Local to the Interior, Dr. Scherrer returned to Kamloops following completion of his graduate training in Calgary in 2009. He was employed for over 7 years as a psychologist with Tertiary Mental Health Services, within the Interior Health Authority. In 2016, Dr. Scherrer started his private practice, Interior Psychological Services, out of which he currently practices full-time. In addition to psychological assessment, Dr. Scherrer focuses his practice on individual cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) with adults, and is actively involved in promoting evidence based psychotherapy through his membership on the Board of Directors of CACBT–ACTCC. Dr. Scherrer is a Psychologist Provider for Veteran Affairs Canada, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and Canadian Forces.
